Then, fuck you. This is a message board. And I'm not necessarily saying that it's not a valid point, it's just bullshit how often people bring it up. Graphics definitely don't make the game, but it's a lot more fun and immersive when the environments don't look like shit. That doesn't mean that a game can have shitty gameplay and excellent graphics, it's just that the argument is generally used when the games being attacked have both good gameplay and graphics to warrant the relative shittiness of another game.

It's simple
Gameplay alone > Graphics alone
Gameplay + Graphics > Gameplay alone
But if it's being used against a game that truly has both, I mean both to an undeniably higher degree than the game being defending, the person saying it is just incorrect. Also, not having graphics of the highest caliber and looking like shit are two different things.

I feel "gameplay>graphics" Is true. Nice graphics are cool and all but when you feel like you're playing Lair then whats the point? I'll just watch a Pixar movie and save myself the frustration of trying to make it through the game.
If theres great gameplay and the graphics look like ass It'll atleast still be fun. And besides. These days graphics that look like ass are still fairly decent. They're still better than anything you'd see on the PS1.

Katamari looks like that on purpose, although I'm not sure what purpose. As said before, this is an example of sucking both ways, crappy gameplay and crappy graphics. They can take their ball rolling "innovation" and shove it, I'll be playing my real games.

It seems your memory is going. (Or you can't read). Since it was someone else who said it sucked.
Katamari's graphics are still better than anything on the PS1. Perhaps you've forgotten what PS1 graphics look like. Has it been that long? Has the PS3 been pretty good to the graphics of your PS1? Maybe your memory is going.
The PS1 wouldn't even be able to handle the amount of objects on screen that you pick up and use in with the amount of detail katamari's have. It would have to very much be toned down and most likely done at a lower resolution with the PS1 whopping 2MB of RAM.
