Didn't SEGA say an asslong time ago in an interview that they were "definitely" going to make a Sonic Riders 2?

Oh course it's noting but races, it's a racing game. I didn't really care much for the game either though. I don't really look for sequels from games that I don't want a sequel from. Unless of course I hear about it from someone.

Hmm? I liked Sonic Riders. Game kicked ass if you got good at it, and got the nifty unlockables. What was wrong?

You would think there would be an adventure mode or something that lets you roam the enviroment without losing anything but time off your life...

Roam what environment? You mean the racetracks? That wouldn't be very fun, considering that it's basically just a straight track that you'll have experienced if you've ever raced on it before. Also, if you slow down at all, it exposes how shitty the textures are, and people would just complain.
And tell me... What racing game do you have in mind that allows you to explore environments?

Cheaper than the used Super Nintendo I saw the other day.

That old article was just one source back in 2005, with no official updates or even mentions of it since, several real games being announced and actually coming out, I figured it was nothing.
Now I starting to hear about it again, I don't have all the details about it, because...I just don't care, I didn't like the first one to begin with, but it wasn't as offensively bad as Shadow's solo game.

Poor controls? Define "poor". It seemed about right for being a hedgehog on an airboard.

Are you trying to tell us that you thought that it was too hard for you without actually admitting it?

It's a racing game. Everyone's going to have the same basic abilities, but with different attributes. They have different attributes. What are you complaining about?
-Most of the unlockable gears sucked, and the requirements for them were rarely worth it.
A lot of the unlockables were sort of nods to older games. You had characters like Ulala and Nights, and gear like the Outrun motorcycle and a crazy taxi board. Plus, if you didn't suck at the game, you could unlock the SEGA Carnival levels, which had areas from games like Crazy Taxi, and even had you going across a ChuChu Rocket board. If you're a long time SEGA fan, stuff like that's nice to see.
-Mandatory Story Mode...for a racing game? And a pretty crappy story at that.
Whenever Sonic Team tries to have a good story, people complain that it's too complicated. When they have a shitty Sonic vs Eggman story, they complain that it's crappy. What do you want them to do? And as for it being mandatory, all you even do is race. You can skip the cutscenes if you're so inclined. I mean, you'd be racing anyway. It's not like you have to wander around some huge city doing stupid shit for no reason.
Gameplay and replay value just didn't cut it for me, to each his own, but I didn't like it at all.
There's plenty of replay value in unlocking the extras if you're good enough to do so. There are also absolutely loads of missions. But apparently you didn't like the gameplay, so you wouldn't really appreciate all that they did to increase the replay value, now would you?

Difficult to maneuver compared to most racing games.

Regardless, it was too hard for them, so I couldn't play with anyone else. And no it wasn't.
It's a racing game. Everyone's going to have the same basic abilities, but with different attributes. They have different attributes. What are you complaining about?
Even the attribute differences were barely noticable, the only varitey between the 20+ characters were which of 3 shortcuts to choose.

Sure, the nostalgia was nice, but I was hoping for gameplay.

I had no problem with SA2's "complicated" or the classic "simple", they just made you play regular gameplay with predetermined charcters and courses.

Not really. You've got the basic "push left and right to move in that direction", and then the power sliding on corners. Perhaps you didn't like the way that it auto-accelerates? What did you think of the turbulence feature?
Regardless, it was too hard for them, so I couldn't play with anyone else. And no it wasn't.
So you have absolutely no friends who are gamers? I'm sorry. Maybe they shouldn't be playing games like this.
Even the attribute differences were barely noticable, the only varitey between the 20+ characters were which of 3 shortcuts to choose.
Also, what gear they can use. You can also use some gear to enhance their abilities in certain areas, like making it so that they can grind, or so that they can do infinite boosts or use rings instead of air. A lot of the variety comes from board selection. There are also subtle differences in the characters. For example, although stats listed are the same, Storm is actually slightly faster than Knuckles.
Sure, the nostalgia was nice, but I was hoping for gameplay.
Did you actually unlock this stuff? You get two tracks. That's gameplay right there. The unlockable gear also does different stuff compared to normal gear, making you attack differently or use different fuel sources. It's not all just for show.
I had no problem with SA2's "complicated" or the classic "simple", they just made you play regular gameplay with predetermined charcters and courses.
What's your point? If you don't mind the story, then you're just complaining because they're making you play the game.
The missions sucked, the rewards sucked, and I didn't like the gameplay. Yeah, that's pretty much it.
How many of the missions did you do, and how many of the rewards did you unlock? It sounds like you didn't like the game, so I guess you wouldn't really bother to actually get this stuff, seeing as how it's all worthless, huh?

I actually thought that was a really cool feature, I'd like to see more similar things in other racing franchises, I didn't really hate everything about Riders.
So you have absolutely no friends who are gamers? I'm sorry. Maybe they shouldn't be playing games like this.I have some, but they weren't used to this game, and the learning curve was too long for them to just pick up and play.

It was a little too subtle, I barely felt any difference with gears and characters, except ones that grant extra abilities.

The carnival courses were pretty cool, but it still wasn't much, and as I said the gears were very subtle.

Didn't mind those stories, Riders' story was pretty embarassing, but gameplay could always make up for it, it just didn't this time.

I completed all of them, but I couldn't get the gold medals and I heard Super Sonic isn't really as good as I might think, and that sounds about right, draining rings would probably lead to an early retire.

So you dislike the game because your friends suck? Is said friend more the Wii-type gamer, or Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 type gamer?
It was a little too subtle, I barely felt any difference with gears and characters, except ones that grant extra abilities.
I'm sorry that you're so unobservant.

Except for the ones that changed things, right?
Didn't mind those stories, Riders' story was pretty embarassing, but gameplay could always make up for it, it just didn't this time.
Riders' story was just as embarrassing as Sonic Adventure 2's. Did you honestly think that crap was cool? Nothing SEGA does with Sonic stories is even supposed to be cool. I don't think that it ever was. They just sort of take the most cliche scenarios possible, and stick a blue hedgehog in them. I mean, seriously. Sonic Adventure had the whole generic "evil god is summoned and smashes things" story, Sonic Adventure 2 had a generic Sci-Fi story, Shadow the Hedgehog had some shitty Sci-Fi drama type thing going on that you commonly see on TV, Riders had this whole XXXTREEEEME thing going on, Sonic the Hedgehog '06 had a fantasy setting. I honestly don't think that they're just trying really hard to be cool and fucking up. At this point, it seems too deliberate.
I completed all of them, but I couldn't get the gold medals and I heard Super Sonic isn't really as good as I might think, and that sounds about right, draining rings would probably lead to an early retire.
If you did all of them, then why are you complaining? They served their purpose. They got you to play. If you actually hated them, you'd have stopped.

Quoting one sentence lines is stupid. It's much easier to just put it in italics unless it's something terribly profound that lasts several paragraphs.

That's not the developers' fault. The game wasn't designed for so-called "casual gamers".

I'm a hardcore gamer myself, they're some of my favorites, but I didn't expect a light-hearted racer from a kid oriented franchise to be one of them.

Sonic Adventure, Sonic Shuffle, Sonic Adventure 2, and Shadow the Hedgehog. Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders itself seemed like they were intended to be kid friendly. The only recent one that looked like it was really meant to be hardcore was Sonic Next-Gen.
