My friends Game Boy Advance SP.

Talk about a piece of shit. I wish you could have seen it, I'm surprised it could turn on. The screen was cracked, the L+R buttons didn't work, the sound didn't work, he had to tape the game in to play his games, When in a game, if you had to attack with the B button, it would make the character jump. The recharger barley worked. The 'Start' button was punched in to far. And one day I had to play it. I just about smashed it to smithereens. But he said no because it was the only one he had. He finally go a Nintendo DS Lite. And he sold the SP for.....$50! So, have you of your friend ever got a game console of game accessory that was so smashed, you were surprised that it worked at all?
ShadowGangstaXXX

I have like 3 SPs now, one of which I bought on launch, one of which I pawned off of some guy for $20, and one of which I received as payment for a service.

Only one of them has both triggers working, and I was bored one day so I smashed the screen in on the first one. Funny thing is, the thing still works and plays games, you just can't see anything.

Nintendium is quite an amazing material. See my GC durability test on SmashSomeStuff.
ShadowGangstaXXX

You mean plastic and shitty parts that don't break because there's nothing fancy TO break?
cheese007

No, just really high quality plastic. This shiznit BENDS from having a weight dropped on it.
ShadowGangstaXXX

Any plastic does that if it's thick enough.
cheese007

Hence why Ninty products pre-DS lite are indestructable.
ShadowGangstaXXX

All of their stuff from now on is going to have the quality of an iPod, which they seem to be trying to emulate.
cheese007

Damn trends ruin everything!
ShadowGangstaXXX

Which is why I'm damn happy with my original DS compared to the new one. Sure, it looks like utter ass, but I'd rather have something that looked crappy and was functional than the other way around. Maybe if they figured out how to design things that were both durable and pleasing to the eye...
cheese007

Amen to that! I can't tell you how many times I've dropped my original DS on concrete, yet it still works.
ShadowGangstaXXX

Okay, well I'm not that much of an idiot, but I do put it in my pocket and crash around quite a bit.
cheese007

Heh, crash around.
Roterblitz

My DS Lite works fine, I just haven't done anything stupid to it, same with Xbox 360's, they don't break if you don't break them.

I'm not in denial, those thing do brake easily, so I'm just more careful not to brake them.
cheese007

Yeah, but claming you have to be stupid to kille a 360? A DS lite maybe, but a 360?

That I agree on.

Well, I'm still using my first one, how does everyone else keep breaking theirs? Tilting it during gameplay, playing for hours without a coolant, or do those things really just break themselves and I got lucky?
cheese007

You got lucky. VERY lucky.

It's true, my friend had to get 5 Xbox360's before he found one that worked.

Actually, if you've done research, then you'd know the problem. The thing is, after about a year of regular use, the motherboard will start to warp due to heat. This severs some of the connections, causing critical failure. People have noticed that if you actually wrap it in a towel after this happens and let it run for a while, the parts will melt back into place, allowing you to use the console for a short while longer. After people started suing Microsoft, it was decided that they had to extend the one year warranty to last three years, since it seemed that it took just a little over a year for about two in every three Xbox 360s to encounter the aforementioned problem. They will now begin releasing new models with improved heat sinks and other parts that should hopefully not encounter the same problem. So, you see, it's all a matter of luck, because you really can't control your motherboard warping.
Roterblitz

I asked about the heating problems when I first got it, and I was recommended to use a cooling attachment, the only drawback being noise, with it my first and only 360 has lasted all this time, that must have had more to do with it than just luck.
cheese007

How long have you had it, and it probably has been luck. Unless you don't use it a lot.

I play pretty frequently, but it hasn't been a year yet. Who knows, maybe it will break and the coolant is just helping it last longer.
cheese007

Probably.
ShadowGangstaXXX

Actually, most cooling fans don't help. Especially the Nyko, or whatever the hell it is, ones. See, the cooling units that you can attach actually draw power from the Xbox 360 that would otherwise be used for, you know, normal system functions. This can cause some stuff to short out pretty easily...

I just learned of a funny thing that happened to my NES when I was 3. So, one day my cousin comes over and asks he could borrow it. I say yes. And he got Dragon quest 4 for it, of something like that. So he played it for 24 hours! About 5 in the morning, he said it started smoking, and it exploded. And I supposedly didn't care because I didn't know how to play it anyway.
cheese007

I bet he still has that thing.
ShadowGangstaXXX

It didn't explode. He's lying.

I bet he still does to, I should ask for it back.
cheese007

You're just now realizing this?
sonicfan126

I never thought about getting it back, but reading your post makes me want it back.
